Botels in Prague

Not the cheapest but one of the more romantic accommodation options in Prague is a botel. A botel, also called sometimes a boatel, is a cross between a hotel and a boat. Several of them are permanently moored on the Vltava (Moldau for the German speakers and music fans here) river bank which gives them automatically a very central location. Imagine to look out of the window in the morning, seeing the sun rising over the river and the swans floating by…
On the downside is that the cabins tend to be a bit on the small side and especially the bathrooms can be tiny. Before booking it is really advisable to check that point out. Also check out where the boat is exactly moored, some of them a very central, some a bit less. In the ideal case you want to be close to restaurants, bars and pubs, so that you don’t have to walk to far home in the evening.

Oh I didn’t know you had botels in Prague. I stayed in one in Amsterdam many years ago - but it didn’t stayed moorred they cruised to nowhere up the river between 11pm and 6am - so not ideal for early morning departures or late nites! Oops someone moved my hotel!

Great piece, but I would be terrified to stay in such a small compartment
