What I could have done better?
What I could have done better?
You learn by experience and my recent “dental emergency” taught me a few things:
- It is not enough to know where to find a good dentist, you have to be registered with him/ her to get an emergency/ short notice appointment. At least that is how it works here.
-Take your Czech dictionary with you, the receptionist in emergencies might or might not speak your language.
-Take your passport, I got treated without proofing my identity, but you might be unlucky.
-Take cash, when you don’t have -yet- a proper Expat dental insurance, cards are not accepted everywhere. BTW, it was dead cheap, only 600CZK (use currency widget on left side bar to convert)
-They apply the triage system, how long you wait depends on how urgent your treatment is. Take a book, or two, and a bottle of water - at least.
-To avoid confusion with your blog readers make very clear that by blogging about “not English speaking” doctors you actually refer to your own incompetence to speak the language of your host country. And that you are NOT doubting the competence of the people that treat you because they might not have a language in common with you!
